It is a true honour to know that my poem, Mother's Love, has been chosen by my poetry peers as a winner.  Many of you had great entries that were worthy of winning. Thank you so much for making this a Mother's Day to remember. Having a mother who, from my earliest days, encouraged me to enjoy poetry has been a true blessing in my life. Mom instilled in me the love of literature mingled with the love of God.  I, in turn, attempt to pass those two passions on to others through my poetry. Thank you for encouraging me on towards my goal.

Blessings from the SKY

Mother's Love
Prayers were whispered for this child,
while in her womb it grew;
a mother's love bloomed in her heart,
unending, pure and true.

Sacrifices oft were made;
enduring pain of birth,
because she kept before her eyes
what this child would be worth.

Her child was a gift from God;
sweet treasure from above.
Pure joy to nurture, tend and teach
it of the Savior's love.

Knowing all the while, this child
entrusted to her care,
at any time could be recalled.
Deep sorrow she might bear.

For brief moment, hour or day,
or many, many years,
that risk of grief she'd gladly run
for love erased her fears.
